A clarification. When I referred to “her deceased elder brother” I was referring to Lucy, not Esther. Interesting to hear of the maintained contact with Babs. I am in occasional correspondence with Beatie’s granddaughter. What a story their’s was. My cousin Alan is probably best positioned to send you a tree – I’m still getting up to speed on Mac Genealogy. We have a ton of stuff on all the branches except yours, so your posts are quite exciting.

Sorry no opticians or eye specialists in the family! My mother used to visit Hilda (Babs) in her flat in London. She also talked about cousins? Hannah and Miriam but I have no idea where they fitted in to the family tree. Uncle Louis lived in New Brighton I think and had 2/3 sins and a daughter, Josie who was married to Ben, a dentist; I think they lived inThe Wirral and had a son and daughter. I would love to see a family tree.

Welcome to the group! Your mother was likely named after her grandmother, who was called Madeline in her earlier life and Matilda in her later life. Interesting that her nickname Mattie is usually short for Matilda. Esther’s son Gaston who was born c. 1916 was likely named after her deceased elder brother who died young in 1910. Gaston (Kahnn) was my grandfather. Any opticians or eye specialists in your branch of the family?

My mother, Madeline Freda Ruth Taylor, was the daughter of Mattie and Courtney Taylor. Mattie died when my mother was about 10 and her brother, Gerald, about 7. Courtney re-married and had a daughter, Thelma and son Terence. My mother died 25 years ago and Uncle Gerald died in Adalaide about 4 years ago. I think Esther must be Aunt Hetty (called AH by my mother). Her son Gaston Robert died age 94 about 3 years ago. I think there are members of the Matthews Family in the Wallasey area.

I’m trying to track the ancestry of my grandfather, Max Kahn, who we believe was born in Trier, Germany on August 12, 1859. He married Josephine Lion of Spiesen and immigrated to the US in 1893. We know much of Josephine’s family, and nothing of Max’s. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

my name is Myriam Malga, my german grandmother was the neighbor of the Kahn Family in Freudenburg. Her name was Maria Drosse. She hid 2 Jewish Kahn brothers during the war. I am looking for the descendants or the actual persons if still alive. My mother remembers Polo and René Kahn but I am not sure of the spelling. Any assistance would be great ! Thank you

Hi. My father is Hans Herman Kahn, born in Nurenburg, Germany in 1919. He came to the US in 1938. His brother Fritz was 5 years younger. He traveled to France to “escape,” at age 14; at age 18 he was sent to Drancy and then died in Maideneck (sp). Their father was Max Kahn, born in Simmonhausen and mother was Helen, who died of a heart attack when my father was 14 (before the war). Max was in the metal warehouse businessness in Germany with several cousins. Max remarried (name is registered in the Yad Va Shem archives). Max’s father was Sigmund (? not sure), also from Simmonhausen. Does any of this sound familiar?

Hello, I have been surfing the net and came across the name Beatie Tickler of Torrens House North Common Road, Ealing, London. My reason for contacting you is to see if any of your family have a picture of Torrens House? My great grand father, Captain Henry Robert Angel owned this house (among others) and lent it out as a club for wounded soldiers during the war. He died in 1923 aged 94. He owned and sailed a Clipper from Southhampton to Adelaide, Australia, named The Torrens, hence Torrens House, or The Blighty Touch as it was sometimes called. I would appreciate anything that you might be able
to tell me.

The Madeline, whose children were Victor W. Soden and Irene G. Soden (my mother) was married to Charles John Soden and died in Toronto, Ontario Canada in 1914.

We are from chile and our great grandfather came from poland his name was francisco kokisch diech and he had several sons and daughters. My grandfather was humberto kokisch escobedo. Physician. An during ii world war he received a letter from cousins in liverpool their name were sarah kahn erich kahn and other relatives came to chile. After war ended they returned to urope and israel. We would like to get in touch with them to recover our history.

Merci du mal que vous vous donnez pour rassembler les pièces de cet énorme puzzle qui est la famille Kahn.
Je suis désolé de ne pas pouvoir vous aider,j’ai 85 ans et je m’occupe de ma femme qui est handicapée.
