RAPHAEL KAHN
Our earliest direct ancestor so far is Raphael Kahn, settled in Schweich, Germany (unknown where born but must have been 1725 +/- 5 years). In 1747 he married Brendel Joseph Levy (born Schweich about 1725).
They had five children: Nathan Kahn (1745); Schielen (1747); Esther (1748); Feist (1749); Bernahardina (unknown birth). They all lived in Schweich.
Our direct blood line continues through Feist.
FEIST KAHN (Parents Raphael and Brendel)
was born in Schweich in 1749. He married Knedel Lazard (parents Lazar Lazard and Rachel Rosendal) also of Schweich. His occupation is recorded as cattle trader.
They had four children: Liebe Kahn (b. 1794); Lazar Kahn (b. 23 May 1789); Hendel Kahn (b. 1795 -m. Salomon Levy b.2 August 1882); Brendel Kahn (b. 1796) – all born in Schweich.
Feist died in Schweich 5 November, 1826.

LAZAR KAHN (Parents Feist & Knedel Kahn)
was born in Schweich 23 May 1789. He moved to Luxembourg in 1816 and there married Jeanette Isaac Lazard (b. 20 January 1794 to parents Isaac Lazard b. 1758 Luxembourg and Janton (Goton) Levy b. Haute Yutz, Thionville, France). Lazar was a merchant, renting out horses and carriages. He is believed to have fought for Napoleon and to have been awarded La Medaille de Ste Helene (the Napoleon Medal) for surviving.
They had several children including Victor Kahn (Luxembourg 1827). All were born in Luxembourg and two of them are believed to have eventually returned to Germany to settle in Welschbillig.

VICTOR KAHN (parents Lazar & Jeanette Kahn)
was born in Luxembourg-Town in 1827. He married Mathilde Cahen in Paris about 1851 and they moved with their two children, Pauline and Arthur, to Liverpool in 1854. Five more children were born: Charles, Gaston Victor, Lucea, Elmelia and Phillipe.

GASTON VICTOR KAHN (parents Victor & Mathilde Kahn)
was born in Liverpool in October 1858. After several trips to the USA as an adult, he became a London optician.
In 1903, he and Amy (born Dubber) had a son, Philip Brown Kahn, followed by a second in 1911, Gaston Bernard Kahn.
Gaston died in April 1911.
