LAZAR KAHN (Parents Feist & Knedel Kahn)
was born in Schweich 23 May 1789. He moved to Luxembourg in 1816 and there married his first cousin Jeanette Isaac Lazard (b. 20 January 1794 to parents Isaac Lazard b. 1758 Luxembourg and Janton (Goton) Levy b. Haute Yutz, Thionville, France). Lazar was a merchant, renting out horses and carriages. He is believed to have fought for Napoleon and to have been awarded La Medaille de Ste Helene (the Napoleon Medal) for surviving.
They had several children, including Victor Kahn, born in Luxembourg July 1827. Siblings of Victor were Raphael Louis (b. 1818) and his sister (stillborn), Salomon (1822), Joseph (1824) and another non-surviving sister.
Lazar died in 1873. One reason we had problems finding information is that the family name in Luxembourg is recorded as Cahen, the French variation.
